Health Information That Reflects Your Life

Investing In Your Health Today was founded on a simple but urgent belief: that Black Americans deserve health information that speaks directly to their experiences, their bodies, and their communities.

For too long, mainstream health media has overlooked the specific conditions, risk factors, and cultural contexts that shape health outcomes in our community. We exist to change that — by publishing expert-reviewed articles, videos, and podcasts that are medically accurate, culturally informed, and genuinely useful.

Every piece of content we publish is reviewed by board-certified physicians and health professionals who understand the unique health landscape facing Black Americans. We don't just report on health disparities — we give our readers the tools to overcome them.

Our Story

Born From a Community Need

The publication grew out of conversations happening in barbershops, church halls, and family kitchens — places where people were asking real questions about their health and not finding answers that felt relevant to their lives.

We started as a newsletter, grew into a full editorial platform, and today reach hundreds of thousands of readers each month with content spanning heart health, diabetes, mental wellness, cancer prevention, women's health, and more.

Our team of editors, medical reviewers, and community contributors brings together decades of experience in health journalism, clinical medicine, and community advocacy — all united by the same purpose.

What We Stand For

Our Core Values

Medical Accuracy

Every article is reviewed by board-certified physicians before publication. We cite peer-reviewed research and update content when guidelines change.

Cultural Relevance

We write for and about Black Americans — addressing the specific risk factors, cultural contexts, and systemic barriers that shape health in our community.

Radical Transparency

We disclose our funding sources, editorial process, and any potential conflicts of interest. Our readers deserve to know who is behind the information they trust.

Community First

We are accountable to our readers, not to pharmaceutical companies or insurance interests. Our editorial decisions are driven by what our community needs to know.

Plain Language

Medical information should be accessible to everyone, not just those with advanced degrees. We write clearly, define jargon, and never talk down to our readers.

Action-Oriented

We don't just describe health problems — we give readers concrete steps they can take, questions they can ask their doctors, and resources they can access.

Editorial Standards

How We Work

Our editorial team identifies topics based on community health data, reader questions, and emerging research. Every article begins with a medical brief prepared in consultation with a specialist in the relevant field.

Drafts are reviewed for medical accuracy by at least one board-certified physician before publication. We follow the Health on the Net (HON) Code principles for reliable health information online.

We are committed to correcting errors promptly and transparently. If you believe something we've published is inaccurate, please contact our editorial team.

Medical Disclaimer

The content published on Investing In Your Health Today is for informational and educational purposes only. It is not a substitute for professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Always seek the guidance of your physician or other qualified health provider with any questions you may have regarding a medical condition.
